Ladies and Gentlemen The Fabulous Stains (1982)

The important scene that means a lot to me in this film is the scene where the band are doing their first headline gig and Corinne who is the lead singer decides to come out onto stage with her new look and the crowd aren’t aware of what’s going to happen.

The Fabulous Stains start playing one of their songs called “Waste Of Time”, and someone from the crowd decides to pull the cables out of the electricity supply.

The crowd start laughing and talking about them, and she laughs and goes along with the joke until she decides to take her hat off and show her new look, however after that she makes a speech about how everyone would have wanted to see a cute rock star, and how everyone is always telling people to be themselves, when they aren’t, as well as people laughing at you because you’re different compared to everyone else.

This scene resonates with me because Corinne is such a powerful role model in the whole entire film, she started from the bottom and many people judged her.

She still carried on being herself, and made an impact after telling her audience that it’s okay to be yourself even if you are different, have a punk rock band and don’t want to be controlled by other people.

“I’m perfect, but none of you in this shit hole get me because I don’t put out!”
